New SaaS Platform The Intent Ledger Defines Project Memory Category for Design Teams Losing Critical Decision Reasoning.

The Intent Ledger has launched as a SaaS platform addressing a long-overlooked problem in architecture and design practice: the loss of reasoning behind project decisions. The platform introduces structured ILM Records that capture intent, risks, actions, and commitments from everyday project conversations.

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia - August 27, 2026 - The Intent Ledger has launched as a SaaS platform purpose-built to solve one of the most persistent yet under-addressed problems in architecture and design: the gradual erosion of project knowledge as decisions, reasoning, and context disappear into fragmented notes, emails, and human memory. The platform introduces a structured approach to what the company calls project memory, giving design teams a reliable method for preserving the, "Why" behind their work.

At the heart of The Intent Ledger is the ILM (Intent-Led Memory) Record, a structured document generated from the raw material of project conversations. Whether a team is working from meeting notes, critique feedback, client comments, or informal discussions, the platform organizes these inputs into records that clearly delineate decisions made, design intent expressed, risks identified, actions assigned, commitments agreed upon, and questions left unresolved.

The problem the platform addresses is well known to anyone who has worked on a multi-phase design project. A decision made during an early design review may be revisited months later, but the rationale that supported it has long since been buried in an email chain or lost when a team member departed. Without access to that original reasoning, teams often find themselves relitigating settled questions, duplicating effort, or making choices that inadvertently contradict earlier commitments.

Small studios and independent practitioners face this challenge acutely. Without dedicated project administrators or knowledge management systems, the burden of maintaining project continuity falls on individual memory and AD HOC documentation. The Intent Ledger offers these teams a lightweight yet structured alternative that fits naturally into existing workflows without requiring significant process changes.

Design students, particularly those engaged in thesis work, represent another group that stands to benefit significantly from the platform. Thesis projects involve extended periods of iterative design development, punctuated by regular critiques and advisor meetings. The feedback received during these sessions is often rich with insight but difficult to retain in its full context. By structuring this feedback into ILM Records, students can create a living archive of their design reasoning that supports deeper reflection and more informed decision-making throughout the project.

The Intent Ledger is currently offering three free ILM Records to new users, allowing individuals and teams to begin building their project memory without upfront cost. This introductory offering is designed to demonstrate the value of structured intent capture and encourage adoption across a range of practice sizes and project types.

The platform enters the market at a time when architecture and design firms are increasingly seeking digital tools that go beyond scheduling and task management. While project management software has become standard in most studios, these tools are optimized for tracking deliverables and deadlines rather than preserving the intellectual substance of design work. The Intent Ledger fills this gap by focusing specifically on the conversations and reasoning that inform design outcomes.

Looking ahead, the company is developing additional capabilities that will expand the platform into a comprehensive project-memory system. Future development will focus on enhancing how teams capture, organize, search, and share the reasoning behind their decisions across the full lifecycle of a project, from early concept through construction documentation and beyond.
